Production exec talks Shadow of the Colossus film, future Team Ico projects

In the interview, Chang talks about the narrative difficulties in bringing the episodic (think: one colossus per episode) structure of the game to a two-hour film, and hints that adaptations of other Fumito Ueda games like Ico and The Last Guardian may be in the cards if this one pans out. Listen, Kevin, we 'Re forward to seeing you "Re passionate, but let' S take this film at a time well? T Don 'want to put the cart before the giant, furry horse dragon.

Capcom, Level-5 teaming up - Report
Keiji Inafune apparently confirms the Dead Rising 2 publisher is collaborating with studio on an undisclosed project; Professor Layton franchise sales hit 9.5 million units.
The day after Capcom R&D chief Keiji Inafune heaped praise on Level-5, reports have surfaced that his employer and the Professor Layton studio are in a full-blown collaboration. When asked by Japanese business site Diamond Online (translated via the blog Andria Sang) If the reports of the joint project were accurate, Mega man by the Creator did not mince words.
Like Professor Layton's two heroes, Capcom and Level-5 are working closely together.
The plaudits for Hino apparently grew even more effusive. "The thing I most respect about Hino is his work ethic," beamed Inafune. "Before I met Hino, I had confidence in the amount of work I was doing, and even thought that maybe I was the hardest working person in the game industry. But after meeting him, I thought, 'I'm probably not number one.'"
Inafune went on to state that sales of Level-5's Professor Layton series have now surpassed 9.5 million units. The puzzle-solving DS franchise was recently updated with last week's North American debut of the critically praised Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. The name was among Bestbuy.com 'S Top 10 best-selling games for its launch week, according to rankings released megaretailer.

TGS: Hands on with Miles Edgeworth 2
I absolutely love the series of Ace Attorney, so I'm sure, go with the stand Capcom 'try their latest recording Ace Attorney Investigations 2. The booth itself was pretty fantastic, adorned with a giant inflatable Steel Samurai set against a backdrop designed to appear exactly like the opening sequence of the game. While I waited in line to play, I was treated to an interesting trailer, complete with voice-acting.
Needless to say, it immediately got my hopes up. Who wouldn't want to hear Miles Edgeworth berate his incompetent partner, or interrogate a witness until they piss themselves? So, did the demo live up to that expectation? Read more after the break.
So, as the line neared the end, I was handed a card explaining the new features and controls -- which might have been cool if not for the fact that it was entirely in moon speak. Unfortunately, I could barely read it, despite my ability to speak the language to some degree, but thankfully that didn't prove to be an issue at first.
I was immediately seated at a table with three other people, and gave ear with the DS - I really hoped would enable me to hear the voice of the legendary acts that I saw the trailer. I turned the system and booted up the demo.
Not to spoil too much, but the opening sequence features what appears to be a politician being assassinated via gunshot on a podium, by a plane. The next sequence shows Miles throwing on his jacket and the game begins with Edgeworth and Gumshoe standing at the scene of the crime. After a quick investigation -- which plays exactly like the previous title, complete with combining clues via the logic system -- you meet his new would-be rival, a young reporter named Makiko. Like most characters, her name will likely be changed should the game head stateside.
Miles then proceeds to question her, which leads to the activation of the new Chess system that everyone has been talking about for the last week. From what I could see, the whole chess concept is more of a visual aid to assist you in determining what choices to make when attempting to win the debate, which the opponents argument being represented by stronger -- or arguably more important -- pieces. The debate is also timed, and failure to properly question the opponent results in a penalty to that time. It was kind of a cool little twist on the classic interrogation sequences.

Rumor: PS3 Firmware 3.41 improves sh*tty patching system
The majority of the PlayStation 3 experience consists of watching a long progress bar slowly fill up as the system downloads and installs its endless supply of bloated updates and patches. According to some new information dug up in the latest Firmware, however, it would appear that Sony is implementing something it should have done years ago -- a patching system that doesn't totally suck.
When you update the PS3 'S firmware, the console in no way' t just get the new information he requires. Instead, he redownloads entire Firmware, which is mostly comprised of old information. This leads to lengthy patching processes, with the PS3 taking significantly longer than the Xbox 360 to install even the most insignificant of updates.
Imagine, we might be able to spend more time playing games instead of watching a progress bar. It's a brave new world for PS3 owners! Now it would be frigging nice is this capability could be extended to other software updates. No excuse for the PS3's bullshit when the 360 downloads patches in mere seconds.

Insomniac partners with EA for future 360, PS3 title
Insomniac Games announced today that its partner Electronic Arts to bring the "new universe and franchise" as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Little of what he 'S are known at this time.
\\ "You may be wondering why announcing this game now, and how it relates to our existing projects," Ted Price said in a statement posted online
Announcement comes as a bit of a shock, especially considering all reviewed the PlayStation 3-exclusive Resistance 3 to be a lock. And it may very well still be -- Insomniac recently opened up offices in North Carolina, and it's not out of the question that the studio is working on multiple projects.
"Our relationship with Sony Computer Entertainment is still very strong," Price added, "and continues as we develop additional projects exclusively for PlayStation 3 -- projects that will take full advantage of our additional development time."
No word on when this project with EA Partners will be revealed, but we'll be keeping our eyes on this extremely interesting (and exciting) development.

Insomniac partners with EA for future 360, PS3 title

Insomniac Games has announced today that its partnered with Electronic Arts to bring a "brand new universe and franchise" to both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Little beyond the fact that it's happening is known at this time.
"You may be wondering why we're announcing this game now, and how it relates to our existing projects," Ted Price said in a statement posted online. "We've been developing games on an annual pace during the last 16 years. One thing that has become apparent to us though is that in order to live up to our own high standards of quality, we want to give ourselves more development time to iterate and polish our games. All future Insomniac titles will benefit from longer development cycles, which will directly benefit you, our fans."

Singularity shows off what makes it singular
Been wondering what sets Singularity apart from other FPS that have evil Russians and time travel? OK, maybe those things aren't as ubiquitous as WWII and Nazis, but you have to admit that from a cursory glance at the game Singularity doesn't look all that different. However, like all good games, it is the gameplay that is looking to set it apart.
It's looking like a very unique mechanic, and I can't wait to see if it plays out.
Another War for Cybertron trailer? Oh, go on then
I defy anybody who reads gaming blogs to not know that Transformers: The War of Cybertron in the near future. Activision Hasn 't be ashamed of promoting it and I certainly haven' t been shy posting that promotion because I have massive nerd who loves robots. Robots that turn into jets. And sometimes tanks.
This trailer hypes up the multiplayer aspect which seems to be the main selling point. I tend to lean towards single player experiences, but the customization options sound really promising and I'm quite looking forward to getting online with this one. I'll be playing the game in a little over a week and I'll be sure to let you know if it passes muster. Keep an eye on Destructoid for all that fun!

Ubisoft could copy EA Sports' Online Pass scheme

Ubisoft, never tired of finding ways to screw with its customers, is undoubtedly punching the air and rubbing its hands together at the news of EA Sport's Online Pass initiative, a new scheme that charged secondhand buyers $10 to play its games online, while brand new copies offer it for free. Unsurprisingly, Ubisoft likes this, and may follow with its own plans.
\\ "Most of the games that we produce in the next year we'll have to start downloadable content available," explains Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez, "and we look very closely at what is happening with respect to E. what we call a $ 10 solution, and will probably read that line sometime in the future. "
That's all well and good, and I get that publishers don't want people buying used games. However, this despicable victim complex from companies that still make millions upon millions of dollars and charge $60 per game really is getting trite and pathetic. I'm sick to death of publishers acting like the used market is exclusive to the industry and a dreadful cancer, especially as we're edging ever closer to an all-digital market where these companies are gearing up for complete dominion over its customers and their wallets.
Basically, STFU game industry. You're not a unique and fragile little flower. Actually offering good incentives for paying customers, rather than holding expected features hostage, should be your focus. But of course, that would be the less dickish thing to do, and we can 't have that .
